Congratulations to three of our Computer Science Degree program students for their impressive innovation. Supervised by Professor Alex Tetervak, fourth-year applied computing students Laura Gonzalez, Sneh Patel, and Shuayb Badoolah, developed the innovative business idea that won the Spark-CU competition prize of $5,000, an opportunity created in partnership by the Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation (CABHI) and two of Sheridan’s Research and Incubation Centres – the Centre for Elder Research (CER) and EDGE Entrepreneurship Hub.
The winning students will receive this funding, along with coaching and mentorship support from both CER and EDGE, to assist in the development of their business idea that sprung from a capstone course project – a tablet app specifically developed for Dementia patients in their early and mid-level stages that aims to slow the rate of memory loss and stimulate the patient’s cognitive abilities.
The funding will assist the students in achieving their business milestones over a six-month period. At the end of six months, the teams will pitch to a panel of judges who will award the top team with an investment of $25,000 along with access to CABHI’s full innovation network and Acceleration Services.
