Students from all over FAST engage in competitions each year including local and international skills competitions, hackathons and design competitions. Teams come together to innovate new solutions to social and technological challenges. Sheridan is so proud of their accomplishments.

Skills Events

Each year the Sheridan Skills Competition brings students to engage in a day-long skills competition. Where this exciting new tradition began in Skilled Trades, we are now seeing it expand to include Applied Computing, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology and Business. This event is a wonderful experience to celebrate the capabilities and accomplishments of our student competitors. A full day event, participants compete in discipline-specific competitions putting their skills and knowledge to the test. With competitions ranging from IT Network Systems Administration to Electrical and Plumbing, to Automation & Control, Machining and Mechatronics, and IT Office Software Applications the day is filled with camaraderie, excitement and application of concepts learned.

Teams from Sheridan also have the opportunity to compete at Skills Ontario and successful competitors move on to the National Skills Competition and even further to the World Skills Competition.

Other Competitions

In Applied Computing, students are challenged through Hackathons and ISS Capture the Flag events. Some FAST clubs engage in competitions with other institutions to challenge each other to innovate. For example, the Electric Vehicle Club participates in the EV Challenge at the University of Waterloo.
